Outdoor string lights: what to verify before installation
Outdoor performance depends on the complete assembly and the site. Compare the exact product model and order specification rather than relying on a general “all weather” description.
Ingress protection
Request the IP test report for the assembled string and check the tested connector and socket arrangement. WENDADECO’s commercial festoon string reference is IP65. Some transformers and selected bulbs have their own IP67 reports, but those ratings do not transfer to the whole string.
Electrical compatibility
Match string voltage, bulbs, driver output, connectors and total load. Confirm the permitted run length and installation instructions for the selected model. A 24V driver still connects to the mains supply and must be specified and installed correctly.
Materials and maintenance
Review the cable marking, conductor specification, strain relief, lamp holder, seals and replacement parts in the approved sample. Ask how the installed connections are protected from water and mechanical strain. Plan maintenance access and record the acceptance criteria for later batches.
Evidence for procurement
Ask for model-specific data sheets, applicable IP evidence and destination-market compliance documents. Send the planned layout, voltage, bulb type and quantity, total run length and installation conditions with the inquiry so the correct configuration can be checked before quotation.
