Commercial waterproof festoon lights for contractors, venues and distributors. Custom E27/B22, 24V/230V and OEM/ODM outdoor string light systems for UK, EU and Australia projects.
This guide answers the most common technical questions from commercial buyers about WENDADECO festoon lights. For project-specific recommendations, contact our technical team with your installation requirements.
What voltage options are available for commercial festoon lighting?
WENDADECO offers festoon lights in 12V, 24V, 110V and 230V configurations. Low voltage systems (12V/24V) are ideal for outdoor events, temporary installations and applications where enhanced safety is required. 230V (UK/EU) and 110V (site use) systems are more suitable for permanent commercial installations requiring longer cable runs without voltage drop. Always confirm your site voltage requirements and local electrical regulations when ordering.
What voltage should I choose — 24V or 230V for my outdoor lighting project?
Choose 24V for public spaces, parks, campsites, swimming pool areas and any location where electrical safety regulations require extra-low voltage. 24V eliminates electric shock risk and supports runs up to 400 metres. Choose 230V for permanent commercial installations (restaurants, venues, streets) where a qualified electrician performs installation and longer uninterrupted runs are needed.
Do you have 24V low voltage systems for safe outdoor use?
Yes. Our 24V festoon systems support continuous runs up to 400 metres with 4,000 LED bulbs from a single transformer. Transformers are IP67 rated with thermal, overload and short-circuit protection. This is the recommended system for public realm projects, event rentals and any installation where safety is paramount.
What is the difference between flat cable and round cable festoon lights?
Flat cable (PVC 2x1.5mm²) lies flush against mounting surfaces for a clean, professional appearance. It is ideal for permanent installations along rooflines and building facades. Round cable (HO5RN-F rubber) provides superior flexibility and abrasion resistance, making it the preferred choice for event rental companies that frequently install, remove and transport lights.
Can festoon light cables be cut to length or joined together on site?
Yes. Cables can be cut at designated points between lamp holders for on-site length adjustment. Always seal the cut end with IP65 termination caps to maintain waterproof integrity. Multiple strings can be joined end-to-end using IP65 connectable couplers.
What cable materials do you use?
We use two primary cable types: PVC flat cable (2x1.5mm², UV resistant, -20°C to +60°C) for permanent installations, and HO5RN-F neoprene rubber round cable (-30°C to +60°C) for heavy-duty and rental applications. Both carry IP65 waterproof rating.
What is the standard length and socket spacing?
Standard lengths: 5m, 10m, 20m, 30m, 50m, 100m. Standard socket spacing: 50cm, 100cm, 150cm. Custom lengths and spacing available for OEM/ODM orders.
What is the waterproof rating of WENDADECO festoon lights?
All festoon lights carry a minimum IP65 rating (dust-tight, protected against water jets). Upgraded IP67 rated systems are available for flood-prone or extreme weather environments — these withstand temporary immersion up to 1 metre for 30 minutes.
What is the difference between IP65 and IP44 rated festoon lights?
IP65 = dust-tight + protected against water jets (6.3mm nozzle, 12.5L/min). IP44 = protected against solid objects >1mm + protected against water splashing from any direction. IP65 is the minimum we recommend for permanent outdoor installation. IP44 is only suitable for sheltered or temporary use.
Can festoon lights be left outside in rain and snow?
Yes. All WENDADECO festoon lights are designed for permanent outdoor exposure in rain, snow, UV radiation and coastal humidity. Cable operates reliably from -30°C to +60°C (rubber) or -20°C to +60°C (PVC). Bulbs are sealed against moisture ingress.
Can your lights be used for permanent outdoor installation?
Yes. Our commercial-grade festoon lights are engineered for permanent outdoor installation with an expected service life of 5-10 years. The IP65/67 rating, UV-resistant cable and corrosion-resistant lamp holders ensure long-term reliability in all weather conditions.
Should I choose E27 or B22 bulb holders for my commercial festoon light project?
E27 (Edison screw) is the standard for European markets; B22 (bayonet) is the standard for UK and Australian markets. We can supply strings with either or both holder types. For projects spanning UK and EU markets, consider ordering separate strings for each plug/holder standard rather than mixing.
What lamp holder types are available?
E27 (Edison screw, 27mm), B22 (bayonet, 22mm) and E14 (small Edison screw, 14mm). All holders are IP65 rated with sealed cable entry points.
What types of LED bulbs do you offer?
G45 (45mm globe), G50 (50mm globe), S14 (Edison style), ST64 (filament), A60 (standard shape). Available in clear, frosted, amber, gold and RGB finishes. Wattages from 0.5W to 2W per bulb.
What LED bulb colour temperatures do you offer?
2200K (extra warm white), 2700K (warm white), 3000K (soft white), 4000K (natural white), 6500K (cool white). Custom colour temperatures available for OEM orders. RGB colour-changing bulbs available with remote control or app control.
What is the lifespan of your LED bulbs?
30,000+ hours rated lifespan. In typical commercial use (8-12 hours daily), bulbs last 5-10 years. LED bulbs run cool, reducing cable heat stress and extending overall system life.
Do you supply solar festoon lights?
Yes. We offer solar-powered festoon lights with integrated monocrystalline panels, lithium battery storage and automatic dusk-to-dawn operation. Solar systems are ideal for locations without mains power access.
What is the maximum run length for a single festoon light string?
230V systems: up to 100 metres per string. 24V systems: up to 400 metres with appropriate transformer sizing. Individual strings can be connected end-to-end using IP65 couplers.
How many festoon lights can I connect in one run?
For 230V systems: up to 100 bulbs per 100m string (at 1W per bulb = 100W total load). For 24V systems: up to 4,000 bulbs (at 0.5W per bulb = 2,000W total, requiring 1000W+ transformer). Always verify total wattage does not exceed cable and transformer ratings.
Where are WENDADECO festoon lights typically used?
Restaurant terraces, hotel gardens, wedding venues, beer gardens, market streets, shopping centre exteriors, pedestrian walkways, public parks, campsites, festival marquees, corporate event spaces, municipal seasonal decorations and residential garden projects.
Are your lights suitable for commercial rental companies?
Yes. Our HO5RN-F rubber cable systems are specifically designed for rental inventory — they withstand repeated coiling, transport, installation and removal. The individual bulb replacement system minimises maintenance costs.
What is the difference between festoon lights and fairy lights?
Festoon lights use replaceable bulbs (G45/G50/S14) in individual lamp holders along heavy-duty cable, designed for commercial outdoor use with IP65 waterproofing. Fairy lights use fixed micro-LEDs on thin copper wire, suitable for indoor or temporary decorative use only — they cannot be used for permanent outdoor installations.
