24V vs 230V Festoon Bulbs: Buyer Checklist

When comparing 24V and 230V festoon bulbs, start with the specification on the exact bulb and its matching lighting system. A bulb's voltage label does not define the rating or run length of the festoon string.

WENDADECO has manufactured lighting since 1999 and exported since 2013. Use this checklist to identify the bulb details that should be confirmed in a quotation or product document.

1. Match the voltage and components

Check the input voltage printed on the bulb and the specification for its socket, festoon string and power source. Use bulbs only with a compatible system stated in the product documentation. Do not interchange 24V and 230V bulbs or power components based only on a shared cap or appearance.

2. Confirm holder fit and bulb specification

Confirm the cap type, such as E27 or B22, along with bulb dimensions and holder compatibility. Also check the bulb's wattage, light colour, material and any dimming or control requirements against the selected model. Do not assume two bulbs with the same cap have the same electrical specification.

3. Review IP evidence for the exact model

Check the IP rating and test document for the bulb model, then check the festoon string and any transformer separately. WENDADECO festoon strings are specified at IP65. IP67 applies only to certain transformers and some bulb models where their individual documents state it. A bulb rating does not automatically apply to the complete lighting system or installation.

4. Confirm warranty and documentation

WENDADECO's stated warranty is 3 years for commercial-grade products and 1 year for consumer-grade products. Ask the supplier to confirm the product class and warranty terms for the selected bulb. Request the applicable product documents for the model and destination market. WENDADECO does not claim TÜV certification; check the scope of any other mark or report rather than assuming it covers every component.

What to include in a bulb enquiry

  • 24V or 230V input required by the project design
  • Cap type and holder or string model
  • Bulb wattage, style, material and preferred colour temperature
  • Required IP rating and the model-specific documents needed
  • Destination country, quantity and product class

For a complete-system comparison, including set length and transformer configuration, provide the matching string model and project layout so the full configuration can be reviewed. Electrical design and installation should follow local requirements and be handled by suitably qualified professionals.
