How integrating sphere measurements help evaluate festoon LED bulbs
For a sample LED bulb, an integrating sphere used with suitable optical instruments can help measure the light emitted by that sample. The report should identify the tested model, operating voltage, conditions and date. Results from one sample do not automatically describe every bulb in a production batch.
Luminous flux
The measured lumen value helps compare light output at the stated operating conditions. Check the exact bulb model and wattage rather than relying on a product-family average or a marketing brightness label.
Correlated colour temperature
CCT describes whether white light appears warmer or cooler. Compare the measured value and allowed tolerance for the ordered model; an integrating sphere reading alone cannot promise zero visible difference between every installed bulb.
Colour rendering
A suitable spectrometer can report colour rendering information for the sample. Ask for the measurement file if colour appearance is important to a hospitality or retail installation.
What this test does not prove
Optical measurements do not replace electrical safety, flicker, IP, cable or connector tests. The complete festoon string requires its own relevant checks and reports. A bulb IP rating cannot be applied to the full string.
How to use the result
Request the optical report for the exact model and compare it with the approved sample, order specification and intended installation. Confirm the inspection scope for production orders separately.
