4 Checks Before Sourcing Commercial Festoon Lights
Before ordering festoon lighting for a commercial site, check the complete configuration: cable, holders, bulbs, connectors, power supply and the intended installation. These four checks help buyers compare quotations on the same basis.
1. Check the cable and connections
Request the cable material, conductor size, plug type, connector design and mechanical support details for the exact model. Match them to the run length, total load and site conditions. A certificate for a plug does not certify the cable or the assembled light string.
2. Match each IP rating to its component
Ask for the test report covering the exact string, bulb, connector and power supply. For the applicable WENDADECO configurations in the current specification, the festoon string is IP65 and the matching 24V transformer is IP67. Bulb ratings depend on the tested model. The highest rating of one component must not be applied to the complete installation.
3. Size the 24V power system
Confirm transformer output, lamp wattage, lamp count, conductor size, run length and voltage drop together. As one specified example, 300 compatible 0.5W DIP bulbs draw 150W from a 24V 200W transformer; the applicable maximum run is 100m, subject to the complete configuration and installation design. Do not assume one transformer can supply 400m or 4,000 bulbs.
4. Check documents for the exact model and market
Request the available model-specific electrical-safety, EMC and RoHS documents and confirm their coverage against the quotation. Requirements differ by destination market. A report for another model, a component or a laboratory test must not be presented as certification of every product or of the installed system.
